The Broken Note

The Broken Note is a complete band instrument (brass, woodwind and percussion) repair shop and retail store located at 70 North Main St. in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. We repair for bands, individuals, public/private schools and music stores who don't have their own repair department.  If you need major or minor repairs you have found the right place! We do everything from basic playing conditions to complete overhauls, repads and everything in between. We use the latest dent removal technology to save you money and reduce time without your instrument. We also keep a large inventory of top quality parts and only the finest pads so we can get your instrument back into your hands quickly! Loaner instruments are available at no charge so you can keep playing while your instrument is in our shop. All work is performed on-site, so you don't have to wonder where your instrument will be shipped off to for repair. When you call or come in our shop, you will be speaking directly with the technician who will be repairing your instrument.
We also buy and sell new and used instruments including guitars and guitar accessories, brass and woodwind instruments, accessories and sheet music. If you need it, we have it or we will get it for you!

Owner, Brian Greek

Brian began repairing as an apprentice in a small repair shop in Lancaster, Pennsylvania while attending college. After graduating from college with a degree in Business Management, he attended technical school for band instrument repair in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Brian returned to the central Pennsylvania area and continued to work at the same shop in Lancaster. In the summer of 2008 he went off on his own and The Broken Note opened its repair facility and retail store at 70 N. Main Street in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. When it comes to playing music Brian is mainly a drummer/percussionist, but also dabbles in the bass guitar. He also plays every brass and woodwind instrument so that he can test the instruments after service.  Brian is a member of NAPBIRT, The National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians.

 Customer Testimonials

"I brought my son's sax in for repair early last week and wanted to let you know that it is playing better now than it did before he banged it up!  You did a great job and we are very pleased. "

-Diane L.

"I can't say enough about how helpful Brian and Broken Note have been . He has provided my kids with wonderful horns at reasonable prices and he has helped us keep some older instruments playing well. I have purchased 2 used saxophones for my children from Brian and I have been really pleased. He also repaired an older Buffet clarinet that had been sitting in my friends basement for years. My daughter now really enjoys playing it.He was also able to free up a slide on my old Bach Strad.trumpet that a repair shop 30 years ago had said could not be freed. In addition, he repaired a flute that had previously come back from another shop unplayable. He has also been really helpful in evaluating some other older instruments that he was unsure were worth repairing. Brian does wonderful work, his prices are reasonable and he is a pleasure to work with. "

"As a professional orchestral musician from out of town, it was a pleasure to have Mr. Greek order parts from the Edwards factory in Wisconsin, repair my instrument, and check back ensuring my satisfaction all within the three days I was in York County! Brian was not only thorough and professional but also made a personal connection. I will definately be going back to "The Broken Note" for all of my repair needs."
